What it costs
Work is quoted per matter before it starts. The rate below is what that quote is built from.

What the rate covers
The same rate across all four lines of work. Examining a phone is charged the same way as testing a network or pulling footage off a recorder.
Digital forensics
Examination of devices and systems for a legal matter, with the method recorded.
Cyber security
Audits, penetration testing and incident response for a business.
CCTV and security
Camera and access control work, and recovery of footage a matter depends on.
Data recovery
Recovery where the output has to stand up as evidence, not just open.
What the rate does not buy
Said now, so it is not a surprise later:
- An hourly rate. The rate card sets a day rate and nothing smaller, so no page here divides it into one.
- A fixed price for the job. Scope is not knowable until a device is examined, so the quote follows the examination plan, not a price list.
- A result. The rate buys the work and the report. It does not buy a finding, a recovery, or an outcome in a matter.
- Work outside the agreed scope. If the matter grows, the extra work is quoted before it starts, never added afterwards.
A quote states the GST separately, and it states the number of days before you agree to it.
Questions about the numbers
What does the work cost?
$1,000 a day, plus GST. Work is quoted per matter before it starts, so the quote says how many days the work is scoped to before you agree to it.
Is there an hourly rate?
No hourly rate is published. Time on a matter is charged by the day, and the quote for the matter says how many days the work is scoped to.
Why is there no fixed price for an examination?
Because the scope is not knowable until a device is examined. A fixed price set before that point is a guess with a number attached. The quote is written once the matter is understood, and it is written before any work starts.
Is GST included in the rate?
No. All prices are in AUD, plus GST. A quote states the GST separately.
Does the rate change between forensics, security testing and recovery?
No. Examination, recovery, analysis and reporting are all billed at this one rate. The four service lines are charged the same way.
What happens if the data cannot be recovered?
You still get a report. It states the method used, what was found, and what could not be recovered and why. No result is promised in advance, and the limits of what a device can give up are said before the work starts, not after.
